Stakeholders and User Profiles
Stakeholders:
- Professors – Primary users and controllers of the system. Decide if the class will be included in the system and oversees their class’s use of the system.
- Graduate students – Primary users of the system.
- Undergraduate students – Majority primary users of the system.
- Staff – Secondary users of the system. Responsible for running the system and maintaining and providing the data related to the system.
- Finance – Tertiary users of the system. Responsible for paying for the system.
- Administration – Tertiary users of the system. Responsible for the logistics and decisions about the system.
- Webboard licenser – Tertiary users of the system. Affected by the implementation of the messenger system as Webboard use may decrease.
User Profiles:
1. “Sarah is a first year UVic student with no declared major. She tends towards the social sciences and has vary limited computer experience. Sarah grew up in a poor neighborhood and didn’t have much exposure to computers. She has learned to log in to her account and use her e-mail and finds it very useful in her young academic life.”
2. “Dieter is a computer science professor at UVic. He is originally from Germany and has been at UVic for twenty years. He is an expert on the computer and knows a lot about programming. He loves to customize his interface and is always tinkering with his system.”
