  1. Hassan comes home from a long day of school. He is tired and very hungry, but there is no dinner ready for him since he doesn’t live at home with his parents anymore. He decides to go online and finds a recipe using the online cooking system. He wants to get a recipe that is fairly simple and straightforward since he is new to the kitchen. Hassan enters the website and follows the instructions on how to get a recipe. He likes this website, because it has simple instructions and the interaction with the system is very easy and fast. He enters the ingredients he has at home and with a simple button click he gets a list of recipes that all include his choice of ingredients. The recipes are all written in very simple instructions so even a new beginner to the kitchen can follow the instructions and make a decent meal in short time.

  1. Akbar has not shopped for a while and only has a few ingredients in his refrigerator. He cannot think of a meal that he could cook using these few ingredients. Therefore, he decides to use the online cooking service. He types in the ingredients and as a result he gets a list of recipes. He looks at the title of them and chooses the one that he finds suitable for him. The recipe is straightforward and uses the ingredients he entered.

  1. English is not Hassan’s first language. He is here in Canada as an international student. Therefore, he does not know the name of all the ingredients. He uses the online cooking service often and sometimes he gets stuck trying to remember what the ingredient he is looking for is called. This is quite frustrating for him. The website provides a list of all the ingredients sorted by food groups. Using this option he can easily pick the ingredient that he is looking for and get on with the process.

  1. Hassan owns a PC which he uses to surf the net. The PC is located in his bed room. He uses the online cooking service very often and it is inconvenient for him to run back to the PC from the kitchen every time he wants to read the recipes. Therefore, he usually prints the recipes that he needs and easily sticks them on the refrigerator door. This way he will save the walk to his bedroom, and his cooking becomes more efficient in time and quality.

  1. Hassan has a midterm tomorrow and has not studied enough for it. He doesn’t like to eat out, he thinks it’s unhealthy and the prices are unreasonable. He comes home from a long day at school and decides to cook a meal for himself. He neither has enough time nor does he have the patience to read two pages on how to cook a certain meal. He logs in the cooking online website and types in the ingredients he has at home and he finds a suitable recipe. On there he finds a four minute video clip which explains how to prepare this certain meal in a step by step manner. He cooked the meal in a short time and spent the rest of they day studying for his midterm.

  1. It is Monday and Hassan is taking a break from studying. He decides to go to the gym. After the gym, Hassan always has a great intake of high-protein meals in order for his body to grow. He opens up his fridge and finds only two chicken breasts, half a can of tuna and some vegetables. He is clueless of how to include all these ingredients together to make a meal that consists of high-proteins. Therefore, Hassan decides to log on to the online cooking website. From a list of diets, he clicks on the high-protein diet and thereafter, he enters his main ingredients and a list of recipes containing the desired ingredients appears in front of him. Hassan can now prepare himself a decent meal that consists of high-proteins.

  1. Akbar gets off work at 4pm everyday and he picks his children up from school and takes them home. He needs to cook food for his children once he gets home because everyone is hungry. He obviously cares about his children and wants to provide them with the right amount of nutritions that they require in their diets. He looks up the meal he is about to make on the online cooking service and he finds out about its nutritional values. Now, according to the nutritional values of the meal, he can decide on which meal is best for that specific day for his children.

  1. It’s Saturday night around 7:00 pm and Hassan has invited a few friends over for some drinks before they head out to the clubs. His friends are supposed to show up at 8:00 pm. Hassan only has a bottle of vodka, half a bottle of rum, a few cans of pop and some orange juice. He wants to know how to make the best drinks out of what he has. Therefore, he logs on to the online cooking website. Before the user enters further information about their ingredients, there is an option on the main page that allows the user to decide between drink or meal recipes. Hassan clicks on the drink option and he is directed to a new site with a search option for drink recipes. Here, Hassan enters his key/main ingredients for drinks and a new webpage with drink results appear to him. He can now easily make drinks that consist of what he has. At the end of the night, Hassan’s friends told him that they were very impressed with his drinks specially the girls.

  1. After Akbar has used this website and prepared a meal from the recipe provided to him, Akbar decides to leave a feedback for other users. Since, Akbar is a parent is concerned with cooking for his children, he decides to leave a feedback for other parents. Each recipe has a field where the user can leave a feedback or read comments from other users. There is also a ranking system right next to the “Leave Feedback” box where a user can rate the meal by giving it stars (a total of 5 stars). Akbar writes a few sentences in the feedback box and gives the meal 4 stars. He is very happy that he can help other parents with this feedback/ranking system since he sometimes relies on other users’ feedbacks as well. It is a very helpful method and could save quite a lot of energy making a dissatisfying meal. After writing the feedback and entering the stars for rating, Akbar clicks on the “submit” button and his comments are saved on the database.
