How are requirements from previous phase satisfied?

The requirements from the previous stage were used to create a design that would provide an easy to use environment as well as offering enough flexibility to allow for complex trips to be calculated and then displayed in a manner that would be easy to understand.

The ability to translate the web interface into different languages should be done through abstracting all of the text shown to the user through a database containing the content in a number of different languages. It would also have the ability to easily add new ones.

Another important requirement set out in the requirements was the simple (not cluttered) interface which contains not too much information but still allows for customization.

User profiles is a way to simplify a task that may be repeated a number of times. Starting from a default location is one way of avoiding typing in your own address each time you want to find out how to go somewhere. Additional saved locations for places you frequent are also available in each user profile.

The ability to calculate a return trip is easy to do when all you have to do is reverse the start and destination addresses and then adjust the time, the is done with a single button click on the results page.

The ability to use landmarks (businesses, parks, malls, schools) in the search fields are also available, with the addition of being able to just point and click on a map, adds to the ease of use of the web interface.

The search results also include a summary of the trip including transfers and the amount of walking required between stops, as well as the layover times at transfers.

The search tool does allow the user to specify parameters such as time of arrival / departure and the date traveling.

The results from the search come up with the three best routes based on time, number of transfers, and cost of fare.

There is also a section available for advertising on the website; this can sometimes offset the cost of the web hosting services.
