  Introduction

The goal of this report is to present the concepts, techniques, and details associated with the developmented prototype of the UVic Web Registration (WebReg) system project. The proposed system is to provide UVic students and registration administrators with a registration service that is easy to use and maintain while displaying course information, search results and a timetable in a minimal number of windows. Features that will be offered by the system are conflict alerts (schedule or prerequisite conflicts), advanced search options (by professor, time, etc), and a pre-registration timetable building area. Such a system will provide students with a learnable, interactive and useful registration experience. It will increase student productivity by allowing them to be prepared for their registration dates and to get through the registration process quick and hassle free.

To achieve our goals as developers for the project we have developed a prototype that illustrates the main aspects of interaction with the system. Due to the timeframe to complete the prototype development for Uvic Web Registration system and the lack of back-end system intergration, although the prototype is done in high-fidelity, please keep in mind it is not the full system. And, because it is done in horizontal prototyping, functions are not completed in detail implementation, but a presentaion of interaction with the system is fully implemented.

In section two of this report we introduce the concept and technique for the prototype. In section three, we detail a walkthrough of the functionalities provided in the prototype. And in the last section, a prototype show-room is linked.
