Introduction

The Point:

This site is designed as the first phase of a four phase assignment for a seng 310 course at the Univeristy of Victoria. The course is a survey of the field of human/computer interaction.

This phase of the project is to gather basic requirements for a pre-assigned application. After this there will be a design phase, a prototyping phase, and finally an evaluation phase.

The Application:

Our group drew the 4th project "What can I make for dinner with what I currently have"

The project is a program or web-application (we've focused on a web implementation) that suggests recipes to users based on what food they have available. The application will additionaly take into consideration the skill of the cook, the number of people the meal is for, and what kind of food the user wants to prepare.

Users will log onto the web and provide the application with a list of food available to them. They will chose how experienced they are and the number of people the meal is for. The page will then attempt to find a list of meals that fulfill the user's requirements. It will attempt to suggest substitutions that users can make to widen the variety of meals available. The application will, at some point, gather information about food prefrences from the user and prioritize the returned recipes appropriately.
